Yael was appointed director of the Metro Planning Division in August 2019. Within the scope of this role, she is tasked with advancing plans for the rail-based metro mass transit system that is set to connect the entire Metropolitan Area of Tel Aviv, as well as developing plans for the urban environment surrounding the Metro stations.
Before taking up this role, Yael served as a deputy planner on the National Planning and Building Committee for Priority Housing Areas (known in Hebrew by its acronym, VATMAL)in the Planning Administration. This role included oversight and responsibility for advancing residential projects with thousands of units, including the necessary infrastructure for their development.
Previous to that, Yael was in charge of long-term planning, a role which involved advancing long-term projects and policy papers.
Yael lives in Tzur Hadassah, is married to Benny and is the mother of Sharon, Inbar and Yoav.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling and reading.
Yael holds a master’s degree in urban planning (cum laude) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a bachelor’s degree in geography and environmental development from Ben-Gurion University.
