Shirin is the Principal of the first state Arab ORT School located in the Rakevet neighborhood of Lod. Rakevet is a low-income neighborhood comprised mainly of Bedouins. When Shirin took on this position in 2009, there were 150 students in the school; today the school has grown to 1,177 students. In 2013, Shirin was chosen as a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Young Global Leaders, a selective cohort of young professionals from all over the world. In 2012, she appeared on the list of 40 promising young professionals of The Marker and Haaretz named her as a one of the top 50 influential people in education. Previously she worked in several management positions in the ORT network and the Ministry of Education. Shirin began her professional career as a literature and homeroom
teacher, and literature supervisor in the ORT network.
Shirin lives in Lod, is married to Muhammad and has three children Lin, Aya and Omri.
MA in Arabic, BA in Arabic and Jewish Literature and BEd, both from Bar Ilan University.
