Maya serves as Director of the Mandel Program for Academic Leadership at Mandel Leadership Institute. In her previous position she has been Head of R&D Unit, Avney-Rosha, the Israeli Institute for School Leadership. Before she joined Avney-Rosha, she established and managed the R&D Unit at Branco Weiss, leading teams who develop new pedagogic models. Maya has extensive experience supporting teams of teachers and principals in schools, and in leading county-wide processes of change in teaching and learning. Maya co-edited Making A School, with Dr. Naomi Mandel-Levy, a paper on research and practical implications of pedagogic leadership. Previously, Maya taught creative writing, philosophy and thought in primary schools.
Maya lives in Mevaseret Zion with Yuval and their children: Daniel (10), Ido (7) and Alon (2). In her free time, she likes to read fiction and travel with her children.
Maya is a PhD candidate in education with a focus on oral feedback in the classroom at Ben Gurion University in the Negev. Maya holds an MA in the philosophy of education and a BA in education and in the multidisciplinary track, both from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She is also a graduate of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership.
