Professional background

Eli is the director of Kol Israel Haverim – Alliance and the editor of the Hacham Hayomi website. He was previously the deputy eirector for education of Kol Israel Haverim, the director of the Mimizrach Shemesh Beit Midrash for Community Leadership, and the director of Hillel at Hebrew University.Eli was the chair of Panim, the Israeli-Judaism Network, the chair of the Beit Midrash Network in Israel, and the chair of Social Justice Youth. He was a member of the Biton Commission for Strengthening Identity of Sephardic and Middle Eastern Jews in the Educational System, a member of the International Council of the New Israel Fund, a member of the Prize Committee for Social Justice Activism in Education and a board member of the Democratic Education Spring organization.Eli edited the book A-Mythical: Social Justice, Gender and Midrash, and initiated the publication Tradition in the Modern Era: Sephardic Sages of Recent Generations. He was awarded the Human Rights Prize from the New Israel Fund – UK.

Eli lives in the Pisgat Zeev neighborhood of Jerusalem. He is married and has six sons.

Education

Eli received his bachelor's degree in Islamic studies from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
