Assi is a community doctor and an integrative community physician for Clalit HMO. In this role, Assi manages health services teams both at the regional and community levels through the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. Through 2009, he served as a physician in several Ethiopian immigrant absorption centers.Assi has offered integrative community care and has directed several Clalit projects. He is a community physicians representative in the Israeli Medical Association.Assi also serves as the Medical Director for Clalit's Prescription Information Project, which is the online medical division of Clalit’s central office. Assi manages the writing team that is responsible for writing medical content for the general public.Before completing his studies, Assi served as a nurse at the Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. He also mentored and supported IDF orphans and bereaved families on behalf of the Ministry of Defense's Rehabilitation Department.As part of his volunteer activities, Assi represents the community doctors’ organziation for the Israel Medical Association and is a member of the National Secretariat of the Doctors’ Organization.Assi is the author of a popular blog that focuses on community medicine, the periphery and health. He was also instrumental in founding a professional network of 400 family practitioner doctors. Assi was the medic in the Negev Mountain Rescue Unit, which leads international rescue and assistance operations after natural disasters. He also founded and managed a volunteer medical center in a Negev Bedouin village.Assi teaches at Ben Gurion University and serves as an instructor for residents specializing in family medicine.Assi is a major in the IDF reserves and served as a regiment doctor for the paratroopers and infantry corps until 2016.Assi was awarded the CEO's excellence award at Clalit Health Services in 2012.Assi is a specialist in family medicine. He completed his residency at Clalit Health Services' southern district and his internship in medicine at Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.
Assi lives in Kibbutz Tlalim in the Negev with his wife, Inbal and their four children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing computer games, writing and daydreaming. He is waiting impatiently for retirement.
Assi holds an MD degree as well as a degree in Health Systems Management Studies (MHA) both from Ben Gurion University. Assi is a graduate of the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona Tucson, Center for Integrative Medicine. In the Inbar program, Assi is studying for a master's degree in business administration specializing in medical services management at Tel Aviv University.
